…This is dedicated to the one I love…

Sa bawat pintig

Ng pusong umiibig

Sa isip ko’y ikaw

At ang ating awit

Na kay hirap limutin

Ikaw lang sinta

Ang aking hinahanap

At bawat luha ko’y Iyong nilunasan

Ngayong sumapit na

Ang pag-ibig

‘Di ko lubos masarili sinta

Ang iyong tinig

Sadyang kaakit-akit

Kay hirap nang magkunwari,giliw

‘Pag ‘di ka kapiling

Kaya,giliw ko

Dinggin mo’ng aking nasa

At iyong ipangako

‘Di ka magbabago

Sa bawat takbo ng mga araw

‘Pagkat ikaw lang sinta ang mahal ko…

When things all go wrong

I just think of all the days

I think of how you came

And all the songs we sang

And all the dreams we had

I know that it’s love

That’s what all it had to be

You chased the blues away

Erased my tears away

And brought the sunshine back

Into my life

How can I picture all the things you are

Your gaze I want

Your voice I love

It isn’t easy to just make believe

And stay away from you

And so with this love

Take this longing to your heart

And promise that you’ll stay

In love with me each day

Because my love my life is meant

For loving you…

Frustration (adapted)

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

I see crisis

Yet I’m unable to act

Frustration

Life is stained indelibly

For now

I’ve got to learn to cope

The least painful path to take

Is a painful one

Time to sacrifice

Clench the shattered glass in my hand

And watch myself bleed

In the cold stinging weed…

What They Say (adapted)

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

What they say is,

For every stab of pain

That you should feel

For every agony

Into which you should slump

If you could only smile

If you could only pick yourself up off the floor.

Even if slowly at first,

You will gain in strength

You will gain in joy.

But smother in your fist a rose,

Does the rose gain in beauty?

Or pound with a sledgehammer a rock,

Does the rock gain in hardness?

They would say,

Precisely,Man is different

Hei is more than simple roses and stones.

They could always say that…

We could always say that the preceding poem is bitter. We could say that that poem laments the crushed rose and the shattered rock…But if we make it our business to lay blame, will we gain innocence? If we spend our lives excoriating tragedy, will we gain in victory?

Yes,let us feel grief,as the poem expresses it,for that is our right and our fate…But when the weeping is done, let us smile once again.Let us pick ourselves up off the floor…It is the way the writer of the poem would have wanted it.

Ang Sabi Nila (adapted)

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Ang sabi nila,

"Sa bawat kirot

Na iyong madarama

Sa bawat dusa

Na iyong kasasadlakan

Makatawa ka lamang

Makabangon ka lamang

Nang sa simula,

Kahit bahagya

Higit kang tatatag

Higit kang liligaya."

Ngunit kuyumin

Mo ang rosas

Higit bang gaganda?

O masuhin

Mo ang bato,

Higit bang titigas?

Maaari nilang sabihin,

"Kaya nga ang tao,

Naiiba,nakahihigit

Sa rosas at bato."

Maari nilang sabihin…

Not again…?!

Go Fight Tamaraws","Let’s go,Tamaraws" at "Defense"…

Joseph Schumpeter must be tossing & turning in his grave right now…)…And,take note, ang lakas pa ng loob ng Fighting Maroons na mag-walkout (thru the instigation of their coach (Jo Lipa)-who is not even from Batangas) Tapos ‘di din naman pala nila itutuloy…Gumawa lang sila ng eksena!…(Message to Coach Jo-Coach,kung magwo-walkout din lang naman kayo, sana eh pinangatawanan niyo na.At ‘di na sana niyo dinamay yung mga player niyo…)

Haay…I’ve never seen UP students like that before…And I must say, nakakababa ng tingin ko sa UP yun…I was so damn pissed off with my seatmates that I cheered for the Blue Eagles…I guess they must have forgotten that it’s all just a game, and that they’re destined for greater things than Basketball games…Guys, konting lamig lang! We’re all in this together…

…It’s now 1:30 in the morning, and my ballpen is falling down from the computer table…OOOPSS!-Yikes!-CRASH!…

…My right arm still hurts, and I can still taste the Pasta Mediteraño that I had for dinner…

…And now I have to get some shuteye…

…Yes! Walang pasok bukas…este…mamaya!…

…I’m playing the song "Workin’ On A Groovy Thing" by The 5th Dimension…It still sounds as fresh as it did 37 years ago (…We’re workin’ on a groovy thing,Baby…Workin’ on a groovy thing…)…At dahil sinabi ko yun, marami nanamang mga babae (na makakabasa nito) ang matu-turn off sa’kin…Buhay nga naman,oo…

Anyway,’yan ang mga naiisip ko ngayon…I just felt like posting them all.

Hmmm…Heidi or Carina?…Si Heidi o si Carina?

…GMTFM…

GMTFM…"Great Man That Ferdinand Marcos"…Do you guys agree?

Actually,"GMTFM" stands for "Greater Manila Terminal Food Management" (or words to that effect…’Yun yung dating pangalan ng FTI.) But my Dad felt compelled to say that…Kasi,we (me & my Dad) were having our usual Saturday-afternoon chit-chat (with cups of coffee & his music of choice in the background.At-himala!-yung rock group na "Boston" ang pinili niya…).And,as usual,we were lamenting about the deploring state of our dearly beloved country. So there, ginawa niya yung slogan na ‘yun- "GMTFM…Great Man That Ferdinand Marcos"…Nabigyan naman daw siya ng mataas na grade ni Ms.Villesa (yung Values Teacher niya…SLN) dahil maganda yung naging thesis-defense niya, kaya lang, sobrang pinagtawanan daw siya nung mga kaklase niya (his classmates include Fidel Nemenzo-son of former UP President Francisco Nemenzo,Ces Oreña-Drilon & National Artist Dan Raralio) Kung ‘di lang daw talaga mataas yung grade, his project would be totally useless. His classmates told him "There will come a day when you’ll realize that you will be the only person glorifying the man"…

And now,how he would like to prove his classmates wrong!…During his youth,my Dada (that’s how we call him) never advocated for anything. All he really cared for was his passion for running (he was a UAAP Track Star,at naging "Team B" siya sa "Gintong Alay" Program ,together with Lydia De Vega & Elma Muros-Posadas.Kaya lang, napunta sa "Team A" si Lydia at Elma, while my Dad chose to take up his MAEd & teach in Miriam College &,eventually,in the Ateneo…) Pero,he has always been a staunch supporter of the former president (but not his "Imeldific" wife.) The only time that he went against Marcos was when the strongman decided to make the University of Life the premier state university (at,siempre, dahil UP student siya-simula Grade 4 hanggang MAEd-he joined a protest rally at the Agrifina Circle in 1978) And I have to say that I’ve been influenced a lot by my Dad…

Kaya nga sa tingin ko eh very timely yung topic naming yun eh…Kasi I’ve read a column by Dr.Carol Araullo sa BusinessWorld the Friday before that.In that column, she likened the occupant of "the stinking palace by the stinking river" to the former strongman. And I was thinking,"’Di ba’t parang nakakainsulto naman yun?" I mean,at least Marcos was elected twice.Eh si Gloria, she "…stole the presidency, not once, but twice!"

So anyway, back to my Dad,sobrang tumatak talaga sa isip ko yung kwento niyang ‘yun …May point siya dun eh…Sabi nga niya, during Martial Law,the Philippines is the No.1 country in Asia when it comes to the quality of Education.(Imagine,we were only 2nd to Switzerland. And Switzerland was the No.1 country in the world…Haay…) During that time, the Philippines was also the world’s leading exporter of rice, corn & sugar…During Martial Law,there was peace & order (& I guess it almost fulfilled all the qualifications for the best economic system)…Yes,he’s to blame for all our economic miseries (siya lang naman kasi yung unang Philippine President na umutang ng ganung kalaki) But at least we experienced an unprecedented growth during the "New Society"-it’s something that has never been done before, nor is it something that will materialize in the near future…

(-sniff-,-sob-)…Quoting my Dad,"We used to be a Big,Beautiful Country. Now we’re a Bad,Bad Country…" (Oh,before I forget,it was my Dad’s support for Marcos that cost him his job at the Ateneo…Biruin niyo,he was pressured into resigning kasi ‘di daw siya nakiisa sa "Confetti Revolution".Tapos kasi daw eh ‘di siya bumoto nung Snap Elections.

GMTFM…What do you guys think?

…I hope you guys can now look at our country the way I look at it…

Welcome to my Blog!…’Yan! Dahil nagkaroon na kami ng PC (w/matching Cable Internet),I took the liberty of creating my own blogspot,as no self-respecting Friendster user would want to be caught dead without one…
